I am not controlled by any special interest group. I come to the Board as an educator for the past 20 years and a deep understanding of how School Boards work. My mission is that every child in our district gets the best educational experience possible!

I am a first generation immigrant from South America who came to California in 1986 and was able to pursue the dream of being a teacher and making an impact on students like me. Advocating for them is my objective.

My plan is to create transparency and accountability, provide a well rounded education for our students that focuses on growth, higher achievement, and social emotional learning, and create an approachable environment for parents and stakeholders. I want to be your advocate.
About Fabian CARBALLO
My Story
Fabian was born in Argentina from Uruguayan parents and brought to the US at the age of 8. As a first-generation English learner, Fabian struggled in school in his formative years. Even though the English language was a barrier, Fabian's favorite class was Speech because he loved to speak in public. Fabian went on to earn BAs in Communication, and History and Political Science from La Sierra University, an MA in American Studies from California State University, Fullerton and an MA in Education from Claremont Graduate University where he is still enrolled as an Education PhD student. After teaching high school in a public school district for 19 years and at the community college, Fabian is now a History and Political Science Professor at Lake Tahoe Community College. "As someone who struggled but was inspired by educators, my mission is to create transformative educational experiences for our students."

La mayoría de las investigaciones educativas nos dicen que las clases pequeñas son más beneficiosas para los estudiantes y que las actividades extracurriculares ayudan a los estudiantes a ser integrales. Entonces, ¿por qué no son éstas nuestras prioridades? En South Lake Tahoe vivimos en un lugar hermoso pero nuestro distrito escolar es pequeño y tenemos que hacer más con menos. Como educador de escuelas públicas durante dos décadas, sé lo difíciles que pueden ser las limitaciones presupuestarias. Tiende a haber un flujo y reflujo de financiación. Como miembro del sindicato (CTA, NEA) durante los últimos 20 años, sé cómo brindarles a los maestros las herramientas que necesitan para tener éxito.
Como educadores en primera línea, necesitan saber que el Distrito los apoya a ellos y a sus interminables esfuerzos para ayudar a los estudiantes. Ciertamente tuve maestros que creyeron en mí y es por eso que dediqué toda mi vida a la educación y su poder transformador. Como estudiante universitario de primera generación, en una generación, a través de mi medio de vida, pude transformar las oportunidades de toda mi familia en este maravilloso país. El conocimiento que he adquirido como educador en escuelas públicas es lo que aporto. Poseo un buen sentido lo que significa poner a los estudiantes en primer lugar, crear una cultura de asistencia a la universidad, aumentar la asistencia y los logros, luchar por un presupuesto saludable y ser un defensor de los padres.
Como profesor de Historia y Ciencias Políticas en LTCC, mi objetivo es crear equidad y eliminar todas las barreras que los estudiantes y padres de minorías puedan estar experimentando. Quiero ser tu defensor.

Fabian 4 School Board is a campaign about listening to students, parents, teachers, and stakeholders. How can we increase achievement, attendance, and fiscal responsibility? Everyone's voices matter and my mission is to include the community.
